Moody family record, c.1877-1917.

Negative photostat of autobiographies and essays by members of the Moody family. It begins with John Monroe Moody's autobiography, including a history of his conversion to Mormonism, his work on the St. George Temple (includes a listing of dimensions and specifications for the Temple), and an extended family genealogy. The majority of the manuscript is an autobiography written by Moody's son Francis Winfred Moody, who writes of moving to Pima, Arizona, in the 1880s and of the Moody's family experiences in Arizona, including the illness and death of John Monroe Moody. Francis Moody also writes of difficulties with Apache Indians, of his work as a Sunday school superintendent, and polygamy, of which he writes, "Now we will have to do away with plural marriage because the government says so? No." There are also many pages of theological doctrine, prophesies, and church history, some presumably written by Francis Moody and some signed Andrew Jenson (1917). The manuscript also contains brief autobiographies and statements of faith for Sarrah Jane (Huntsman) Lewis (written in Thatcher in May 1912) and Elizabeth Moody (b.1838). Also includes an essay entitled "The Temple at Saint George: A Brief History of the Erection" (1877).
